The Emily Program

The Emily Program is an exciting growing organization focused on the treatment of eating disorders. It also has a growing presence in the St. Anthony Park neighborhood of St. Paul.
In September of 2007, The Emily Program purchased the former Park Midway Bank building at 2265 Como Avenue to meet the space needs of its rapidly increasing staff and client base. Eight months after moving in, the organization is expanding again!
During its first construction phase last winter, the ground floor and lower levels were converted into administrative offices as well as space for clinical staff, medical services, meals, yoga and support groups.
The second phase of construction began in October 2008. The building's top floor, formerly occupied by River City Clinic, is being renovated to include 24 clinical offices, as well as other spaces for clients and staff. The St. Paul staff is expected to grow to fifty when work is completed, and everyone moves into the new space early this winter.
The Emily Program was established in 1993 by psychologist Dirk Miller and was named after his sister who successfully recovered from an eating disorder fifteen years ago.
In the years since Miller started the program, eating disorders have increased in recognition, across age and gender. They are life-threatening illnesses but can be treated. The Emily Program currently treats about 1,900 clients who are struggling with disorders including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder and compulsive overeating.
Working as a team, the organization's therapists, dietitians, medical staff and other treatment professionals help clients develop healthy alternatives to unhealthy patterns of behavior regarding food.
In addition to the St. Paul location, The Emily Program has outpatient clinics in St. Louis Park, Stillwater, Duluth and Burnsville; and a residential treatment facility, The Anna Westin House, in Chaska.
